Cute as a button

Babies and more
Babies! I had the privilege of making a sweet baby shower treat for a friend with baby boy on the way. She helped me make some buttons out of fondant the day before and it was good clean Saturday fun. I just love baking and taking on projects! I'm going to be transparent here though, now with a baby of my own it wasn't as pretty of a picture getting out the door today (as if it normally is anyway- insert lounge music and my hair flowing in the wind as I stride down the stairs)Some days especially days when I'm "trying to do it all" I end up taking one step forward and two back, but that is the joy of being a Mom. From baking, dressing myself and the boy (read: wrestling) to decorating (my face and the cupcakes) and out running errands and the errands running me, it was one debacle after another. I always detest the phrase "one if those days" but that's the best way to describe it! All in all we all survived and the surviving cupcakes were pretty cute and yummy too! - even had some extras for breakfast the next day. I'm worth it.

Small blessings

We waited soooo long! Almost four months to share the news! What am I talking about? I am remembering the excitement of a special time Last Easter where after dinner we celebrated with a "curious" new tradition. No one thought anything different knowing me and my *enthusiam* for holidays. I placed a special decorated Easter egg for everyone to crack and read a special "Easter message". From each cracked egg a small picture tumbled out. Revealing what my family would soon discover as a first ultrasound of a tiny person who would one day be named Emmett. ...With a delayed reaction and me already tearing up... It took them a bit to realize what they were looking at but when they did, there were many tears of joy to follow! I wanted to reveal our joy with the symbolism of new life!  A fun little tidbit also was that no one knew I was secretly filming only to find out the the video stopped right a the moment of truth! Ha! I was disappointed that I did not get the reaction on film but it will always be in my memory as a sweet one!

Celebrating love hope and new life this Easter! Hope your Easter is a beautiful beginning of spring blessings love and hope! Xo

Oh Em Gee Brownies

These brownies are to.die.for. Don't make them if you do not want to tempt yourself to eat an entire row, better yet the whole batch.
Soft chewy chocolate chip cookie crust with a peanut butter cup center topped up with a soft fudge brownie on top. I usually like to try healthy desserts but you have to have those "go big or go home" recipes in your roster too! Just plan on wearing sweatpants when you make em.
Delicious!
I got the recipe from this fabulous blog. There are tons of amazingly decadent recipes to choose from. Her photos of the actual brownie are a lot nicer than mine so definitely go have a look!
GO MAKE THEM! As if you need the peer-pressure.

OH BOY Emmett's Nursery Reveal

I have been a little busy and have not been able to share Emmett’s nursery. This was a project of love with a lot of 'internetting' (that is not a word yet?), thinking and searching for the perfect touches for his little space. A lot of the things are adaptations of ideas I found and loved so much!
My favorite thing is how personal it is. All babies are unique, so creating a unique nursery just for them is perfect. It is cozy and personal and we love spending time there. Trust me, for people thinking about nursery ideas; you will spend a lot of time there (!) so you have to love it.

I began with the refurbished dresser from my wedding as a dresser/changing table. I based my inspiration from my love of navy blue and stripes and from there a ‘nautical’ style was born. Next I just chose some things I would make and set out to find other things at thrift shops. Once I found everything I had envisioned it was time to purchase the must have items such as the crib, mattress and a few other finishing touches.

Easy as pie-but you have not seen me make pie, mwah ah ah! No husbands were injured too badly by crazy preggo ladies either. Success, and again I say we love it! I hope you get some ideas and inspiration for your projects!

Wedding diys.

With my recent engagement I have become quite fixated on looking at pictures and posts of beautiful wedding decor. One thing's for certain I never really have been interested in anything wedding related before but as a lover of all things pretty, design and craft I have a new found interest in wedding DIYS.

With that being said I decided that I would try and create (time willing) several things for my upcoming wedding. I am excited to share the ups and downs of such projects because I have found so many helpful sites, sharing is where it's at. I think DIY's can help with brides-to-be on budgets but also bring a personal element to such a special and personal event. With the help of the blog-o-sphere ( Where there is such a wealth info from talented people) anything is possible, even if you don't consider yourself crafty ;).

Here on some things that have inspired me so far.

1. Soft and feminine yet they offer a bold touch to any ceremony or reception. These kissing balls are extremely doable.

2. Extenuate with these delicate garlands. They will accompany any style without taking over the show.

3. Why not invite with a little character and little touch of whimsy. I think DIY or at least partial DIY invites are the way to go. I don't know if I am up for this challenge but I certainly like this result.

4. Since I am going for the 'Shabby Chic' look, it is touches like these that will help create that feel. I was soo excited to find this tutorial for antiqued votives. I share her "squeal-induced" sentiments.

This is what I have so far, may the hunt continue!
